SARNIA, ON— MP Marilyn Gladu says $6.5M more in federal government funding is coming to six local companies across southwestern Ontario, including in Sarnia-Lambton.
London-area MP Kate Young made the announcement this morning.
“This funding is sorely needed and I am happy to see it come to our community. Several industries both in Sarnia-Lambton and across the country have been devastated this year due to the pandemic, and they need all the support they can get. I have been advocating for small businesses since the first days of the restrictions, and will continue to do so,” says MP Gladu.
The $6.5M investment by FedDev Ontario will create more than 90 new jobs in rural communities across southwestern Ontario.
This funding includes $832,000 for Sarnia’s OWS Rail Car from FedDev Ontario for investments in new technology for locomotive maintenance, increasing competitiveness and capacity for jobs.
This funding, along with a further $2M in federal funding for Sarnia’s Bioindustrial Innovation Canada LifeCycle Health PPE repurposing project, marks a significant investment in Sarnia-Lambton’s local economy, and a bolstering of jobs for the area.
