OTTAWA, ON— Upon her swearing-in for her third term as the Member of Parliament for Sarnia-Lambton, MP Marilyn Gladu says inflation and affordability are pressing issues for residents in Sarnia-Lambton and across the country.

According to Statistics Canada reports released Wednesday, the Consumer Price Index rose 4.4% in September on a year-over-year basis, the fastest pace since February 2003, and an increase of 0.3% since August alone.

“Prices continue to rise and our residents are feeling the pressure,” says MP Gladu. “Seniors are struggling to afford costs of living with inflation and the carbon tax driving up the price of groceries, gas, and home heating,” says MP Gladu. Gas prices alone rose a whopping 32.8% compared to September last year.

“This trend remains unacceptable, and I will continue to stand up for Sarnia-Lambton residents in the House of Commons, reminding the Prime Minister of his duty to Canadians and the critical need to curtail inflation and bring down prices,” says MP Gladu.
