PRESS RELEASE: MP Marilyn Gladu named to the new Shadow Cabinet of the Conservative Party of Canada

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Sept. 8, 2020

SARNIA, ON— MP Marilyn Gladu is honoured to be named to leader Erin O’Toole’s new Shadow Cabinet of the Conservative Party of Canada on the Privy Council and as the Shadow Minister for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

“I am eager to take on the task of advocating for our local economy and protecting our hardworking industry, and really looking forward to working with Erin’s strong team to show that we are the government in waiting,” says Gladu.

The FedDev portfolio will be of more importance than ever, given the serious hit to our economy brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, and MP Gladu says she is committed to ensuring the region makes a full economic recovery.

“Justin Trudeau truly has no idea how to implement economic recovery, as we have seen with the closure or downsizing of so many businesses and small businesses. I am going to bring forward new ideas to make sure southern Ontario’s economic recovery is the strongest in all of Canada,” says Gladu.

In her role as the critic of the President of the Queen’s Privy Council, MP Gladu will take the current Privy Council to task over their mistakes and failures implementing many of the government’s COVID-related policies, including the rollout of the economic programs and the border restrictions in place.

The federal government meets next for the Speech from the Throne on Sept. 23, 2020.
