STATEMENT: Elimination of COVID-19 border measures

Sept. 26, 2022
Statement from Sarnia—Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu on the elimination of COVID-19 border measures:

The relentless advocacy of our Conservative MPs, myself foremost among them, has paid off. I am happy to report that starting October 1, 2022, all COVID-19 border requirements, including vaccination, mandatory use of ArriveCAN, and any testing and quarantine/isolation requirements will end for all travellers entering Canada whether by land, air, or sea. Mandatory masking for air and rail travel will also end on October 1st.

This elimination is long overdue, but I am glad to see it come nonetheless. Now families will finally be able to be together without barriers, and businesses will finally be able to recover. Our tourism, hospitality, and duty-free industries have seen their recovery efforts muted because of the barriers imposed by the Liberals, but now it is my hope they will see rapid improvement.

Conservatives will work to ensure no similar impediments are ever put in place again.
